The Santa Parade is back for 2010! - A fun family event with an emphasis on good atmosphere, young children/families, community involvement and engagement and Christmas Spirit.

Can you hear the main street of Richmond ringing with sounds of Santa? Can you see the children with their works of art, proudly wearing their costumes and walking amongst hard-working and talented community groups, alongside businesses who've stepped up to the occasion with flair and imagination? Can you smell the excitement, feel the summer's sun and taste the sweet sugary goodness of free candy?


It must surely be the Richmond Pak 'n' Save Santa Parade!

Rural Wear & Tear

NELSON A & P SHOW LAUNCHES 'RURAL WEAR & TEAR'

The Competition is for a wearable ‘work of art’ including accessories (hat, handbag, earrings, footwear etc) created from materials and items of an agricultural nature found on a farm such as frost cloth, copper, grain, electric fence tape, beer bottle tops etc. The variety of materials that can be used in the making of something artistic is endless.


The Rural Wear & Tear Competition is open to everyone. There are two sections, Open and Junior (Up to 16 years). There are special Conditions of Entry which are listed on the entry form. The most important of the conditions is that ‘the garment must allow free body movement and not injure, scratch or be of a hindrance to the model wearing the garment and must be of a weight that can be comfortably worn and carried’.

Our generous sponsors Richmond Mall have provided vouchers for the winners and runner up of both sections.

Top Team 10

TOP TEAM 2010 TAKES OFF

Top Team 2010 follows the tradition of the popular Top Town television series which finished screening in 1990 and the successful event in 2009.

There are three Heats:

- Motueka Recreation Centre - Sat 16 October
- Saxton Field - Sun 31 October
- Murchison Recreation Centre - Sat 13 November

There are two competitions this year, Juniors (Yrs 4 – 8) and Senior (Open). The junior competition runs from 9am – 1pm (including prizegiving) and the senior competition runs from 12.30pm – 4.15pm (including prizegiving).

Mixed gender teams of 6 to 8 players will compete over 12 games. Chariot races, tractor pull, tug o' war ... loads of good ol' fashioned fun and games!
Businesses, sports clubs, school classes, families, friends, adults, children ... get your team together, dress in your craziest costume and use your strength, skill, speed and a little bit of cunning and battle it out for the Top Team award.
The top 4 teams from each of the 3 Heats will then go into the finals at the Moutere Hills Community Centre to be held on Sun 12 December 2010.
There will be great prizes for the winning teams. Pipe bands, cheer squads, marching girls and mascots are encouraged.

VOTE JUDENE EDGAR - Richmond Ward, Tasman District Council.

I have been a Tasman District Councillor for three years and have worked hard to represent the people of Tasman. I will continue to provide a grounded viewpoint based on an understanding of the pressures affecting families, retired people, businesses and the community in general. Tasman District’s growth and the delivery of services and infrastructure need to be strategically planned and well managed. We must protect our natural environment and productive land while enabling economic development, employment opportunities and the provision of community facilities. I am 41 years old, married to David, with two sons aged 6 and 11. I love living here and wish to ensure that the Tasman District is an affordable, healthy and friendly place to live, work, raise a family and retire. I offer my honesty and integrity and I will continue to be accessible, listen to and be involved in the community.
