Richmond Festival

Richmond is set to play host to a three-day celebration of cultural diversity, entertainment and celebrations as the 'Richmond Festival' welcomes the USA Rugby team as well as rugby fans from far and wide. This is part of the nationwide REAL New Zealand Festival.

Tasman 7s Invitational

Kicking things off for the Richmond Festival is the Tasman 7's Invitational. The tournament will feature over 600 local and international players spread over 44 teams squaring off in three grades: legends, high school and open.

Complementing the on field rugby action will be an evening of entertainment, featuring prizegivings, presentations, live music, cultural and exhibitions. All this enjoyed along with a traditional kiwi BBQ and complemented with refreshing local wines and craft beers.

Stars n Stripes Block Party

Sundial Square, Richmond
Monday 26 September 2011, 12.00 noon - 10.00 pm

The Stars n Stripes Block Party is set to paint Richmond red, white and blue with a lunchtime main street parade with a fantastic array of American cars, music, roller darby and brass bands.  A fun-filled afternoon of kids entertainment continues at the Richmond Mall with singing and eating competitions (though not at the same time!), all culminating in an evening of street party festivities at Sundial Square.   Rock the night away with great entertainment from the Madsen Brothers, fantastic food and beverages and great company.

All Star Tailgate Party

A&P Showgrounds, Richmond
Tuesday 27 September 2011, 2.00 pm-7.00 pm

The final day of the festival gears up towards the much anticipated USA vs Italy Pool C RWC 2011 match, as Nelson A&P Showgrounds in Richmond gets set to host a traditional American Tailgate party.

The free family event will be a pre-game warm up for both local and international supporters. ‘Park up and Party’ with an afternoon full of pre match activities, including classic kiwi games immersed with American tailgate traditions. Live music, performances and an opportunity to sample our excellent regional cuisine, beverages and hospitality round of the festival finale.

Unique to Nelson, the Tailgate Party will offer a ‘park up and ride’ service where USA themed team buses will safely transport fans to and from Trafalgar Park. Allowing fans to enjoy a RWC 2011 experience without the hassle associated with driving and parking in Nelson.
